Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End

This will be a short and sweet version since this is done so late.

I like it. I think the last 40 minutes with the maelstrom fight is some of the best CGI ever filmed. There is so much going on up on the screen it is hard to imagine it is anything but real.

As for the rest of the movie, I agree with many others that it is too long at 2:45. I think had they cut out all the Chinese stuff and made the end of the world a more metaphysical place that could be attained anywhere instead of crossing the Pacific then going way up North to the ice, would have made the movie tighter. Traveling through the ice made me think, "Would Davey Jones be going through that on a regular basis?" Of course not.

All the plot lines revolving around the orient could have been easily attained in Atlantic. In fact I think it would have been even more appropriate had they gone to Madagascar or Africa where its more historically accurate than Asia.

The ending is thoughtful and if you see this in the theater or on DVD wait for the very end of the credits for the payoff of the epilogue.
